Module One: Leadership and Active Management
Examines how you as a manager spend your time in order to get the best from your team, as well as tailoring your leadership approach to match the needs and personalities of your team members and colleagues.
Leadership isn’t easy. Often, you can find yourself in a position of responsibility of others with little support or training on people management. Some management skills will be down to your instinct, but there are also some key approaches that you can use to help you handle certain situations and the many different types of people you will meet during your career as a manager.
For instance, do you find you can give your team the same set of deliverables and yet the results are very different from person to person? This is because some people require a high level of direction and guidance, whilst others thrive on creative flexibility and responsibility. How you manage people and the level of direction you provide needs to be specifically tailored to the individual. This module explains in more detail how you can learn to do this to a point where it becomes a completely natural part of your management style – and as such you and your team will achieve great things.
Module Two: The Enlighten Excellence Methodology
Introduces you to the building blocks of the Enlighten Excellence management approach and how you can apply these in your own workspace to gain a better understanding of your people and workloads.
In every company there will be unproductive time. You may not be able to see it, but it’s happening all the same. To remain one step ahead and work proactively, you need to understand what is causing the unproductive time so that you can begin to remove it. The Enlighten Methodology provides you with some tools and concepts that help you understand your current capability and more towards your desired capability, and that can be adapted to work in practically any environment. It teaches you what drives results and how best to measure your business’ ouput: your building blocks to becoming an effective, efficient manager.
Module Three: Measuring & Managing Performance
Learn some simple measurements to help you understand more clearly and concisely how your team is performing, and how to provide feedback on the results to the individuals you work with – both above and below.
Having a set of concise, objective, performance measures that can be applied to many different functions is so important. Not everyone you work with does exactly the same job, but you need to be able to understand how they are going without having to remember multiple targets, KPIs and service levels. In this module, the Enlighten methodology provides you with three key performance metrics that are easy to calculate, easy to remember and extremely effective at telling you how you or your team is performing and explain this to others.
So just how do you feedback performance to others? This module provides you with some essential tips on preparing for feedback sessions based on the different personalities you can encounter day to day in your working life – fundamental skills that will stay with you wherever your career takes you.
Duration
Do it in your own time at your own speed. We recommend that you don’t go too quickly. Of course you can log in and out and return to the place you left off. Think about each section and maybe discuss with your colleagues / manager / partner / friends. If you’re in a big hurry you could do the program in an hour or so.
When you finish
There’s a set of questions at the end that let you check that you have a good grasp of the theory and how to put it into practice. You’ll need to complete these to complete the course. Then you’ll be able to enrol in other programs designed for people who are using the basic ideas and want more.
Recognition
When you successfully complete the Enlighten Foundation program, not only will you feel full of new skills and ideas to try out in your workplace, you also get a Statement of Completion. Very handy for when you apply for that new role in your company – or another..
